ctrl_alt_del, 2003 (Marres, Maastricht, NL).

Performance stage for the project ctrl_alt_del (an international art project on sound art and new media in Istanbul and in 2003 also in Maastricht; I co-curated and co-produced). Based upon my own experience as a performing sound artist, I made a reversed architectonical environment to meet the specific needs of this activity. A heightened surface is covered with soft material for the audience to sit on while watching the minimal gestures of the hands at the laptops. The artist performs standing in a void in the structure, using the heightened floor as support for the laptop. In this way the action of the performer is placed in the centre of the situation. A sound system surrounds the stage and the audience, thus including the audience itself as part of the situation.
